New Coaster Christmas Ornaments

They were such a big hit last year that I’m bringing them back! I’ve always collected bar coasters (I’m a bit of a collector in case you missed that theme). I paint animals on the coasters and add beads for extra fun. This year’s new ornaments are snowmen, flamingoes, cardinals, pandas, penguins, and clownfish. Yes, I realize the snowmen aren’t animals but I found these great Tullamore Dew coasters that worked perfectly! The coasters are priced at $15 each or 2 for $25 (a shipping fee applies for non-locals). There are limited amounts of each, so let me know asap if you’re interested in any! For locals, you can purchase them this Friday at Noel Night – I’ll be downstairs at the Irish Embassy Pub from 5-9. I can also do commissioned pieces so if there’s one you’d like that I don’t have, let me know.

New Honeyville catalogs

If you subscribe to the Honeyville catalogs (and you should) you’ve received their latest Christmas catalog in the past few days. This was a collaborative piece between Sheree Culhane (owner/marketer), Paul Boyer (photographer), and myself. We had two maddening (and fattening) days for the photo shoot, in which we tried something new – took it out of the studio and shot the whole thing at Sheree’s house. Loads of new food shots featuring the newly designed labels. (outdoor photos are all mine). I think it turned out great. Nice work everybody!

A Whole Lot of Quacking Going On

I love kids’ songs – and wouldn’t you know it, lots of them are about ducks! My niece Clara sings a fabulous duck song – so fabulous that I had to have my sister video it for me so I could share. Thanks to my super fabulous friend Tim Birchard, Duck Girl Art now has a theme song! Tim is a musician who also writes a lot of music, and offered to make a theme song for Duck Girl Art, so I said sure, why not?! I told him to make it like a fun cartoon. I absolutely LOVE what he did, especially the random quacking. I laugh every time I hear it!! Take a listen here; learn more about Tim (and request your own song!) here.

So after a break of at least two years (I think?), I’ve finally painted another duck! This is one for the Animals of Ireland series that I like to call “Filthy Fowl”. A dirty duck that was running around on the grounds at Bunratty Castle. I painted him last weekend at the Durango Open Studios at DurangoSpace. I’ll be there again this weekend (I’ve almost finished a female mallard and will be working on her sister). I’ll be painting this year’s Christmas card as well if I get around to it (sneak peak!!). Saturday & Sunday, 11-5.

Concert Hall Extravaganza

I’ve finally gotten a page on my website for the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. I’ve been working for them since July. I developed a new brand that incorporates the FLC colors and a clean look, and I’ll create all the ads, posters, postcards, and programs for the shows throughout the year.
